Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Spokane, WA

Description

Pearson is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The qualified individual will provide the engineering design knowledge and skills required for the design, application, and maintenance of automated packaging machinery. This requires a familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of Electro-Mechanical equipment design and manufacturing. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required to be successful in the position. Up to 25% travel time may be required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed designs based on written and verbal specifications of desired machinery functions
• Preparing detailed specifications, BOMs and cost estimates for customer-driven requirements
• Troubleshooting problems that occur during development, fabrication, assembly, or commissioning of machinery
• Supervising design support functions as required to facilitate the delivery of assigned projects
• Providing both in-field and phone support for service-related activities
• Supporting Sales, Project Management, Assembly, and Manufacturing functions as needed
• Providing engineering support to product lifecycle management and other processes as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Solid Modeling design experience; Autodesk Inventor experience preferred
• Minimum of five years experience in machinery design; robotics integration experience is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to prepare thorough and detailed machinery designs and to contribute technical knowledge to cross-functional teams in a professional manner
• Excellent technical, verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
