Senior Buyer

Location: Spokane, WA


We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Supply Chain team in the role of Senior Buyer. This position serves as the point of contact for the business unit to ensure divisional and corporate goals are met. They will be responsible for initiating, negotiating/contracting spot buys and managing related suppliers. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a clear understanding of supply chain/enterprise process flow, and should also be able to showcase their ability to implement process changes across the Supply Chain and achieve operational excellence.


  • Support the goals, objectives and plans for supply chain management, logistics and warehouse operations
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet customer expectations while effectively managing inventory objectives and customer service
  • Coordinate efforts and direction between customers, Design Engineering, Materials, Assembly and Purchasing regarding inventory management and cost reduction
  • Manage and develop suppliers for material and supplemental capacity
  • Ensure a Lean/Continuous Improvement environment in all areas
  • Create and issue POs to suppliers per delivery requirements from machine release notification; issue all parts and close shop orders
  • Continually seek out new sourcing opportunities to achieve cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment objectives


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or Systems Engineering; MBA in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of Supply Chain experience including procurement, buying, and/or production planning in a manufacturing operation
  • APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate – verbally and written – throughout all levels of the organization and with outside suppliers
  • Strong analytical, project management, and consulting skills with the ability to influence, work effectively, and implement solutions in a cross-functional team environment
  • Computer, math and problem-solving abilities to ensure appropriate solutions to challenges in all aspects of the position
  • Understanding of/experience with Lean manufacturing and materials concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs and ERP systems
