Director of Project Management

Location: Spokane, WA

Description

We are looking for a motivated Director of Project Management with strong leadership skills who will thrive in our fast-paced, fluid environment. In this role you will direct and coordinate the efforts of the Project Management team with the objective of delivering projects on-time and achieving customer satisfaction. Projects will range from core machinery, customer machinery cells, systems and Aftermarket projects. As a Director, you will ensure that cost budgets are properly established and met, and that project specifications are properly defined and met.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead Project Management staff in hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluations, including identifying performance metrics, coaching, training needs, and motivating direct reports
  • Provide direction and training for Project Managers to support successful customer experiences
  • Build collaboration among internal departments, develop a good understanding of budget vs. actual financial impacts, and a strong technical understanding of the products and services that Pearson delivers
  • Direct all project phases including project transition, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closeout
  • Schedule, assign, and manage the employees’ project assignments; monitor appropriate staffing level including Project Management contractors; participate as a Senior Project Manager as required for projects
  • Lead by example and model behavior that is consistent with Pearson’s values of ‘Real Partners- That Simple.”
  • Drive actions and accountability for directives initiated from the Chief Operations Officer, and generate and deliver weekly project status reports
  • Plan and manage the department’s budget, including approval of expenditures or budget transfers
  • Participate as a member of Pearson’s Leadership Team

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree or equivalent experience in a Project Management, Business, or Engineering field
  • Working knowledge of project methodologies; PMP certification and/or ongoing PMP education
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in in a leadership role within a Project Management, Business or Engineering related field
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project and MS Office Suite
  • Experience in application and use of CAD and ERP systems desirable
  • Expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing a strategic solutions for a growing company; ability to make sound decisions using an in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve complex results
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and customers to take desired action
  • Innate capability to create order out of chaos in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, fluid environment with ever- changing priorities
  • Demonstrated desire to do whatever it takes to get things done
