Project Manager, Systems Solutions Group

Description

The Systems Solutions Group Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall success of PSSG projects by ensuring that engineered systems are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction. The qualified individual will:

  • Provide pre-sales support including the development of a preliminary build schedule, install, startup and commissioning plan
  • Solicit bids from mechanical and electrical contractors as needed, help develop and maintain an approved sub-contractor list and solicit pre-sale PPS service quotes as needed
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive budget for material, labor, travel and contingency; budget management will include validating the as-quoted budget, monitoring and managing actual costs, estimated to complete (ETC) and variance reporting
  • Develop an overall project plan with phase gating to monitor and track progress and report regularly to executive management, escalating concerns as needed
  • Serve as the primary contact for the client, Pearson Packaging Systems (PPS) executive management and internal/external resources through strong communication, organization and leadership 
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the customer from purchase order through system commissioning
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors to achieve flawless execution of SSG projects by coaching, mentoring, motivating, and supervising project team members and third party/vendors, influencing them to be proactive and accountable for their assigned projects
  • Travel as required (50-75%)

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree or equivalent experience (experience in an Engineering field a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in project management
  • 2+ years of experience in site management of project installation and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of project methodologies (PMP certification and/or ongoing PMP education a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound judgment and the ability to lead and organize cross-functional meetings, direct and influence people in a professional manner
  • Innate capability to create order out of chaos in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, fluid environment with ever-changing priorities
  • Capable of working on concurrent complex technology projects and able to communicate, written and verbal, clearly and effectively to executive and business audiences
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Flexibility that allows effective teamwork with people at all levels of the organization
