Senior Controls Engineer - Spokane, WA


The Senior Controls Engineer will design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems for end-of-line packaging machinery. The individual should be responsible for the installation and technical support of servo- and PLC-based hardware and software. Qualified candidates will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of Electro-Mechanical equipment design and manufacture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preparing detailed designs based on written and verbal specifications of desired machinery function, including panel designs, wiring schematics and instrumentation layout
  • Supporting Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing and Assembly as required
  • Preparing specifications, BOMs and cost estimates for customer-driven requirements
  • Providing in field and phone support for Service related activities—travel up to 25% may be required
  • Supervising design teams to ensure project performance deadlines and budget commitments are met
  • Troubleshooting problems occurring during development, assembly, testing, or commissioning of machinery
  • Providing engineering support for product lifecycle management and other processes as assigned


  • Demonstrated ability to generate and validate concepts and designs
  • Experience leading and organizing cross-functional teams and team members through Engineering processes in a professional manner
  • Sound knowledge of Engineering processes and effect on company
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability of new and varied assignments
  • Excellent technical, verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ten years PLC, HMI, servo control and integration experience
  • Five years robotic integration experience
  • AutoCAD experience; AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus
