Process Engineer - Manufacturing/Fabrication Supply Chain

Description

This job is responsible for review and analysis of design, applications, suppliers and new technology in order to ensure and maintain the manufacturability of hardware products. Assists in evaluating and recommending ways to improve manufacturing methods, using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. The candidate will work hand in hand with the production managers as required. Should possess the ability to implement process changes across the Supply Chain and achieve Operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with existing suppliers on: print clarification, material substitutions, lead time variances, work load, defects and rework, on time delivery and part pricing with an emphasis on Delivery, Quality and Cost.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment efforts with business groups (such as engineering and purchasing) and drive down the total cost of ownership.  Continually search out new sourcing opportunities to achieve cost and lead time reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment objectives. Conduct RFQ’s and negtiations.
  • Interact with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of parts, materials; evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Spot check and QA outgoing work from Engineering; spotting deviation from standards. Troubleshoot root causes and initiate corrective action when necessary.
  • Work with scheduling on short lead time project as well as large legacy project taking in account supplier loads. Manage engineering change for expedite requests and provide communication and operational support associated with expedite requests.
  • Provide cost estimates, capability estimates, and production recommendations for new products. 
  • Provide recommendations on where and how a product should be made using the available resources.

Qualifications

  • B/S Degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience in a low-volume environment
  • Leadership and negotiation, conflict management, analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects simultaneously with the capacity to work independently, coupled with the ability to plan and perform work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Experience in Operations, Supply Chain and Continuous Improvement is a plus.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Experience using auto cad or solid works desired.
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Experience in assessing, evaluating, and implementing recommendations in improving processes, productivity and material utilization improvements that result in plant yield improvements is a plus.
