Human Resources Internship

Description

This internship is intended to provide the qualified individual with an overview of Human Resource practices while increasing the student’s knowledge and experience with HRIS administration, benefit and leave management, workers compensation, safety compliance and salary administration. We are happy to discuss the student’s specific areas of interest to offer project work and/or observation in those particular areas.

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Creating/updating HR reports & KPIs
  • Completing and entering Change of Status forms into the HRIS system
  • Updating job descriptions
  • Maintaining Pearson's Performance Management database
  • Assisting in salary bench-marking
  • Preparing New Hire Orientation packets
  • Assisting with multi-state payroll processing & filing
  • Performing administration of Employee Benefit Programs including medical/dental insurance, 401K, life, disability & FSA 
  • Managing the Disability & Leave of Absence claims including STD, LTD, FMLA, Workers Comp & OSHA reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with ADA, FMLA, OSHA, ACA & EEOC
  • Coordinating staffing & employment-related activities such as recruiting, job posting, screening, interviewing, reference-checking/hiring
  • Tracking new hires and maintaining records in accordance with EEO standards


Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities in a tactful, professional manner
  • The ability to handle confidential information
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Highly-motivated, quick learner with a desire to obtain a SHRM certification
