General Counsel

Description

The General Counsel will serve as Pearson's primary legal adviser, providing sound counsel to senior management and department heads, and leading strategic and tactical legal initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with the following responsibilities:

  • Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to the following fields: equipment sales, consulting, product supply, construction, leasing and financing, non-disclosure, employee severance, and business combinations
  • Anticipate, manage, and mitigate legal and business risk
  • Identify and evaluate outside counsel to support internal resources when necessary
  • Assist with a variety of corporate matters, including organizational documents, processes, company structure, and management of corporate entities
  • Ensure company conducts business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Minimum three years legal experience
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and drafting skills
  • Able to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Open to acquiring new skills and continuing education
